The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has launched the “Enjoy Nigeria Expo (ENEX)” in a bid to bring into fore business opportunities in the creative, cultural, entertainment, and tourism businesses.
The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Mariam Katagum, stated that the event organised in conjunction with Welcome2Nigeria Project (W2NP), was to create a platform for the promotion and marketing of products by Nigeria’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the area.
Katagum, while noting that the sector should be given adequate attention, said its revival would help in the continuous diversification of the economy from Oil and Gas.
“This Administration is therefore purposely driven, in repositioning and building a more robust and resilient economy that is less dependent on the oil sector, by developing a more competitive non-oil sector; through the expansion of business growth and stimulating entrepreneurship and industrialization.
“This is being done with due regard to the role of the private sector as major contributors to national income and principal job creators and employers of labour.
She added that exploits made over the years in Nollywood have shown that Nigerians excel when due attention is paid to any particular sector.
“ENEX 2021 is therefore designed to draw the attention of stakeholders in our nation’s creative, cultural, entertainment and tourism sectors, with emphasis on women and youth, and the potentials of the sectors they operate in.
“This is expected to assist them to build capacity in their respective businesses, as well as show them the various ways that they can turn their simple arts and skills into high revenue earners,” she said.
The minister said the forum is expected to draw the attention of the world that Nigeria has a lot of untapped potentials where investments can be made with high returns.
